One board can be a lifecycle strategy
The ARH171/ARH173 is designed around a single Mini-ITX architecture that accepts two Intel Core Ultra generations. DFI positions this as a way to qualify one platform and then choose processor performance, price and lifecycle per product tier.
For OEMs, that can be more valuable than maximizing a benchmark because board requalification, enclosure changes and peripheral validation are expensive.
The platform covers a wide AI and thermal range
DFI lists 15W and 28W processor options and up to 99 TOPS for Arrow Lake-H configurations, with integrated Arc graphics and an NPU. The board also supports up to three 2.5GbE ports and four displays.
That gives system designers room to use the same mechanical platform for comparatively light HMI or vision tasks and more demanding analytics systems.
Modular I/O reduces custom-board pressure
DFI’s M.2 A-key expansion can add display, cellular, USB, MIPI-camera or capture functions depending on the module.
The remaining questions are SKU-specific AI performance, thermals, long-term processor availability and the exact expansion combinations supported in production.
